Banbury Cross Players are delighted to be bringing their brand-new panto adventure, Aladdin, to The Mill Arts Centre in November 2025! Written by Liz Riley, get ready for laughs, magic, and mayhem in this unforgettable family panto adventure!
Aladdin loves an adventure, but when his strange Uncle Abanazar turns up out of the blue, he ends up on a very wild and mysterious adventure indeed! Join Aladdin and his brother Nigel as they search for missing treasure and along the way meet a feisty princess, the trainee Genie of the Ring, the hilarious Royal police force and many more weird, wacky, and wonderful characters! Thrills and spills galore and still home in time for tea, this fun-filled pantomime is a treat for all the family!
Auditions

Auditions for the show will take place on 16th and 17th July 2025 at The Mill Arts Centre, Banbury from 7.30pm.
Auditions will consist solely of script work – so reading scenes in character alongside other auditionees! There will be no improvisation or games at the audition. It will involve straight read throughs of the script but you may be asked to move around and demonstrate a flair for the part.

Please note that you do not have to be a member of BCP to audition, but you will be required to become a fully paid-up member of the society if cast.

Character requirements
Genie of the Ring – Male or Female. A trainee genie, keen.
Abanazar – An evil magician. Should be commanding of both stature and voice with an excellent laugh. However, should not terrify the audience!!
Mrs Twanky – The dame. Male or female. A little scatterbrained, hard working but has two lazy boys so is constantly exhausted. Naïve but fun.
King – A rather silly and pathetic man. Has a kind heart. Always under the thumb of the Queen.
Queen – Very bossy and authoritative, always wants her own way.
Aladdin – Widow Twanky’s eldest son.Keen as mustard, very enthusiastic . Has a zest for life.
Nigel – Was at the end of the queue when the brains were handed out. Aladdins younger brother but thinks he knows best!
Princess – Not your average Princess, knows her own mind and loves an adventure!
Fester and Mould – Comic policeman. Both a bit dim.
Sergeant – Long suffering, tries to lead an elite Royal police force against all the odds!
Genie of the Lamp – Male or Female. Traditional genie, has a posh accent, finds modern life a trial!
Townspeople/police/kings steward/cat/ghost
